Halton-Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship

Ontario Stewardship is a community-based environmental program of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) that was initiated in 1995. This innovative program is supported and influenced, but not controlled by the MNR. The Ontario Stewardship Program’s strength lays in its Community stewardship Councils, distributed originally across southern Ontario and now being established in communities across the north. HPWWS is one of these councils consisting of interested persons from groups, agencies, and individual landowners representing a balanced cross-section of environmental interests within the regions of Halton and Peel that directs the activities of Halton-Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship. Our council members are environmentally minded individuals who provide their time, interest, efforts, and skills to advance the responsible care of land and natural resources within of Halton and Peel for the benefit of future generations. The council members are dedicated to the wise use and management of forest, soil, and water resources. They volunteer their personal time out of their concern over local environmental issues.
