Watercraft Rentals

Electric motor boat, canoe and kayak rentals are available at Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville from mid April to the end of October annually. All equipment must be used within the Conservation Area.

All watercraft rentals include the following:

  • life jackets for each boater
  • boating safety kit
  • paddles
  • anchor with rope

Staff will demonstrate proper use of watercraft and accompanying safety equipment upon rental.

All boats are available after sunrise and must be returned before sunset, where seasonal hours of operation permit. i.e. When the Conservation Area opens at 6:00am and the sun doesn’t rise until 6:15am, boats would be available at 6:15am.

Reservations and Cancellations

Reservations are recommended for watercraft rentals on weekends and holidays, or if you require a large number of watercraft.

Please call 1 800 367 0890 or 519 941 6329. A reservation fee of $5 applies, taken with a valid credit card number. The reservation fee is non-refundable; cancellations are accepted up until the reserved rental time. There is no extra charge for cancelations; however reservations that do not show up and have not cancelled will be charged the applicable rental fee via the supplied credit card number.

Electric Motor Boats

All boats come with 2 batteries and a 30lb thrust electric motor. 3 types of boats are available:

  • 14 foot, V haul style aluminum boats  – 4 person capacity
  • 12 foot, V haul style aluminum boats – 3 person capacity
  • 14 foot, flat bottom aluminum boats – 3 person capacity

Available for:

  • Half day $60 per boat*
  • Full day $90 per boat*

* $50 deposit required, refundable with return of all equipment in good condition

Canoes

  • 16 foot Big Chief canoes, 2 person capacity

Available for:

  • $15 per hour*
  • $40 per day*

* $50 deposit required, refundable with return of all equipment in good condition

Kayaks

  • 10 foot sit on kayaks – 1 person capacity
  • 12 foot sit in kayak – 1 person capacity
  • 14 foot tandem kayak – 2 person capacity

Available for:

  • $15 per hour*
  • $40 per day*

* $50 deposit required, refundable with return of all equipment in good condition

Canoe and Kayak Storage

Island Lake Conservation Area offers an outdoor gated canoe or kayak storage area. The storage agreement is valid for 12 months from date of purchase. Vessels are available for use during regular hours of operation only. All users must provide 2 locks to secure vessel to storage bunk.

Storage fee is $110 annually, not including admission. Most find it beneficial to purchase an annual membership as well.
