Watercraft Rentals

Electric motor boat, canoe, kayak and paddleboard rentals are available at Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville from mid April to the end of October annually. Use of rental watercraft is dependent on weather conditions so please call ahead to confirm availability and local weather conditions. All equipment must be used within the Conservation Area.

All watercraft rentals include the following:

  • life jackets for each boater
  • boating safety kit
  • paddles
  • anchor with rope

Staff will demonstrate proper use of watercraft and accompanying safety equipment upon rental.

All boats are available after sunrise and must be returned before sunset, where seasonal hours of operation permit. i.e. When the Conservation Area opens at 6:00 am and the sun doesn’t rise until 6:15 am, boats would be available at 6:15 am.

Reservations and Cancellations

Reservations are recommended for watercraft rentals on weekends and holidays, or if you require a large number of watercraft.

Please call 1-800-367-0890 or 519-941-6329. A non-refundable reservation fee of $5 applies, taken with a valid credit card number (we do not accept Visa debit cards for reservation payments).

There is no extra charge for cancellations

Electric Motor Boats

All boats come with 2 batteries and a 30lb thrust electric motor. 3 types of boats are available:

  • 14 foot, V haul style aluminum boats  – 4 person capacity
  • 12 foot, V haul style aluminum boats – 3 person capacity
  • 14 foot, flat bottom aluminum boats – 3 person capacity

Available for:

  • Half day $60 plus HST per boat*
  • Full day $90 plus HST per boat*

* A $200 deposit per watercraft is required at the time of rental. The deposit is refundable pending return of all equipment in good condition. The increase in deposit is due to the rising cost of repairs and frequency of damages.


  • 16 foot Old Town canoes, 3 person capacity

Available for:

  • $20 plus HST per hour*
  • $50 plus HST per day*

* $200 deposit required, refundable with return of all equipment in good condition


  • 10 foot sit on kayaks – 1 person capacity

Available for:

  • $20 plus HST per hour*
  • $50 plus HST per day*

* $200 deposit required, refundable with return of all equipment in good condition


  • 10 foot Future Beach paddleboards (one tandem, 2 person kayak is available)

Available for:

  • $20 plus HST per hour*
  • $50 plus HST per day*

Canoe and Kayak Storage

Please note: the canoe/ kayak storage area at Island Lake is currently full. If you would like to be placed on our waiting list, please contact 1.800.367.0890.

Island Lake Conservation Area offers an outdoor gated canoe or kayak storage area. The storage agreement is valid for 12 months from date of purchase. Vessels are available for use during regular hours of operation only. All users must provide 2 locks to secure vessel to storage bunk.

Storage fee is $110 +HST annually, not including admission. Most find it beneficial to purchase an annual membership as well.
