Local community encouraged to attend Lakeview Waterfront Connection project open house

The Mississauga Lakeshore community is encouraged to attend the first Public Information Centre and Open House for the Lakeview Waterfront Connection project. The meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Mississauga Seniors’ Centre, 1389 Cawthra Rd. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a formal presentation at 7 p.m.

The Lakeview Waterfront Connection project is part of the Inspiration Lakeview process that began in 2010. The project proposes creating a natural waterfront park along Mississauga’s eastern shoreline to reestablish natural coastal habitats, create public green space and facilitate sustainable city building.

This project is subject to requirements of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Credit Valley Conservation, on behalf of the Region of Peel and with support from the City of Mississauga and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, is proceeding with an Individual Environmental Assessment (EA). The first step in this process is creating the EA’s terms of reference.

This meeting will:

  •  introduce the public to the project team;
  • summarize requirements under the EA process;
  •  provide a summary of the other projects underway in this area;
  •  identify problems and opportunities;
  •  introduce the project vision, goals and objectives; and,
  •  outline various aspects of the project to be considered.

Opportunities for public discussion and feedback will be provided. For more information on the Public Information Centre, contact Brooke Erickson at 416-661-6600. Ext 5581 or berickson@trca.on.ca. More information on the project can be found at www.creditvalleyca.ca/lwc.
