Construction Workers

Project In-Brief:

  • The SWI project will guide the implementation of nine in-the-ground demonstration sites to showcase the use of LID technologies on industrial-commercial lands, road right-of-ways, public lands and residential lands.
  • The knowledge gained from the implementation process and monitoring of these in-the-ground sites will feed into tools for professionals including a series of guides titled – Infrastructure Optimization: An Adaptive Planning and Water Management Approach to Retrofits for Small, Medium and Large Municipalities

Infrastructure Optimization: An Adaptive Planning and Water Management Approach to Retrofits for Small, Medium and Large Municipalities

These guides will be released in March 2014, as a reference for water management knowledge transfer to communities across Ontario. They will:

  • Enhance bottom line through provision of tools and step-by-step guidance to integrate stormwater infrastructure decision-making for reduced future infrastructure costs
  • Provide engineers, planners, and developers with Stormwater Management Options through a collection of case studies and tools for engagement of various stakeholders – municipalities, developers, residents. Tools include funding/ incentives, examples of maintenance agreements, and innovative water policies
  • Increase infrastructure resilience by ensuring Ontario municipalities are equipped to face climate change with cost-effective and sustainable solutions
