Lakeview Waterfront Connection

Environmental Assessment

The Lakeview Waterfront Connection Project (LWC Project) Environmental Assessment (EA) is being undertaken by Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) and the Region of Peel (co-proponents), with the support of Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and the City of Mississauga.  Planning for the LWC Project is supported by recent City of Mississauga planning initiatives and spearheaded by active public support, which identify a strong desire for greater public access to the eastern Mississauga waterfront. The project aims to create a new natural waterfront park in the Lakeview neighbourhood (Inspiration Lakeview) to enhance degraded aquatic and terrestrial wildlife habitat and provide public access to the waterfront in an area that currently does not provide such opportunities.

Lakeview Waterfront Connection Receives Environmental Assessment Approval

We are very pleased to announce that the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change approved the environmental assessment for the Lakeview Waterfront Connection on May 27, 2015. The Lakeview Waterfront Connection will transform an environmentally degraded and inaccessible section of the Mississauga waterfront into a new conservation area.

The project will be presented to Peel Regional Council. If approved, construction may begin in early 2016, with an anticipated seven to 10 year timeline for completion.

We are grateful to all the agencies, stakeholders, First Nations, councillors, members of the Community Liaison Committee and local residents who participated in the environmental assessment process. Their passion for the environment and the Lakeview neighbourhood will help make this waterfront transformation a reality.
