Types of Sustainable Technologies

Stormwater Mgt LID - Stormwater Management Low Impact Development is a sustainable approach to stormwater management.  LID is modeled after nature and minimizes the effects of urbanization on stormwater by managing stormwater where it falls and mimicking the natural hydrologic cycle.

Renewable Energy - Renewable Energy is energy generated from the flow of natural resources- sun, wind and water - that are naturally renewed to provide energy with benefits to our health and environment. Types of renewable energy include solar electricity from photovoltaics, wind energy from wind turbines, geothermal heating/ cooling from geothermal pumps and clean energy from hydrogen fuel cells.

Green/ LEED Building - Green and LEED buildings work to reduce impact of the built environment with green building design.  These buildings reduce impact on resources like energy and water, protect occupants' health, and reduce waste and pollution.

Restoration - Restoration refers to ecological management and protection of watershed resources. Restoration projects restore and revitalize the natural environment through plantings, wetland and stream restoration on-the-ground projects.
