Riverwood

Riverwood1

Riverwood represents an ecologically diverse natural area within the Credit Valley Watershed. Located in central Mississauga along the banks of the Credit River, Riverwood contains a wide variety of natural features including woodlands, meadows, ravines, wetlands and creeks, as well as being rich in native biodiversity.

CVC works with the Riverwood Conservancy, a volunteer-based charitable organization that provides stewardship, education and other activities to the City of Mississauga. CVC assisted the Riverwood Conservancy in 2008 with the mapping of invasive species at its property. Training was provided to volunteers and workdays were organized. Currently, CVC is working with both the Riverwood Conservancy and the City of Mississauga to further guide the management of invasive species on the property.

CVC is also working with the Riverwood Conservancy and a group of dedicated volunteers to grow native wildflowers that will be used for restoration projects at Riverwood, as well as for the volunteers to use in their own backyard naturalization projects.
