Maintenance

If you use a private well, you must manage your own water quality. It is important to test your water regularly, as contaminated well water could affect the health of your family and your neighbours whose wells may be tapped into the same aquifer. Landowners can benefit from reviewing Regulation 903 of the Ontario Water Resources Act which governs how water wells should be constructed and maintained. There are also funding and incentive programs to assist well owners in addressing issues with their wells. A CVC stewardship coordinator can assist you with issues concerning wells on your property.
