Planning to Plant
Before planting, keep in mind your land management objectives For example, you can plant trees to: improve the ecological health of your property; improve the aesthetics of your property; create suitable environments for recreational activities; produce wood products; prevent erosion; create wildlife habitat and improve biodiversity; or, build windbreaks and/or create shade to help conserve energy in your home.
Whatever your goals or objectives, you should develop a management plan that includes: knowing your site; assessing growing conditions; consulting with specialists; familiarizing yourself with the soil and drainage; and ordering trees.
CVC land management programs emphasize tree and shrub planting for erosion and flood control and improving water quality. Other aspects of these programs include woodlot, fish and wildlife management. Our planting programs are therefore the link in a chain of events which if enhanced, will complement all elements of the hydrological cycle and help maintain the ecological processes with the watershed. CVC Forestry Services can help you establish your stewardship goals and meet your objectives!
